The Clova opened its doors in May 1947, with ‘Dead Reckoning’ a Humphrey Bogart movie. The Clova was built by the community coming together and purchasing bonds to fund construction.

Built in 1932 in the depths of the Great Depression, the Mayfair Theatre is one of Ottawa’s last two neighborhood cinemas, and one of the oldest surviving independent movie houses in all of Canada.

We are a single screen independent cinema, showing first run movies, art films, live theatre performances, concerts, dance recitals, vaudeville and burlesque shows,you name it, all with our Baldwin organ starting the excitement before each show.
