The Southern Cross Hall, constructed in 1924 is the home to the Southern Cross Cinema, showcasing the greatest in movie entertainment as well as multiple annual art exhibitions, theatre performances and the Yfilm short film festival.
The Hall was built in 1924 to accommodate the growing need for an entertainment venue for the region.
In March 2004, Southern Cross Cinema held the first public screening. A full house of
excited, anxious audience members enjoyed the Lord of the Rings: Return of the
King.
Since that night the cinema has continued to operate under the Young District Arts
Council with the help of many great volunteers.
