The Town Hall Theatre is a fully equipped theatre that seats up to 100 patrons. The auditorium is raked which ensures perfect vision from all seats and can cater for both cinematic movies or small intimate productions. The space is also suited for public meetings, conferences and product launches.

The Theatre boasts a 6 metre projector screen, 7.1 Dolby Surrond Sound, small backstage area and is also 35mm cinema equipped, as well as proving for several digital formats, such as DVD, Blue-ray and e-cinema.

Brief History

In 2002, a survey conducted by the Local Youth Council, Temora Youth Representing Others (TYRO) indicated that the two main requirements of youth within the community were a skate park and a cinema.  A skate park was completed in 2004 and the long term planning for a cinema began.

Through various fundraising initiatives, TYRO set aside $10,000 per annum toward the development of the cinema.  Grant applications made to Arts NSW for the project were successful with a grant of $100,000 being made by the State Government. With the support of TYRO and the State Government, the Council committed to the project and construction began on the 1st March 2009.

The resultant facility, named the Town Hall Theatre, provides an 82 seat facility that is designed to be multi functional in its usage.  At a cinematic level, the facility provides the options of 35mm film, Blue-Ray, e-Cinema, DVD and CD formats.

But it is the flexibility of the facility that makes it unique.  For example the Town Hall theatre provides a small performance stage to enable dance or music pieces to be performed.  The sound and lighting are designed with such performances in mind.  As a conference venue the facility will be able to cater for an audience in excess of 100 people.

The Theatre opens today as a true community facility – managed, maintained and operated by a community committee.  Temora Shire Council believes that the community element of the theatre will see the facility develop into an even more important part of the Temora cultural landscape.
